The ISHI Rural Youth Advisory
Groups (YAGs) Training took place in April 27- May 1, 2010 in
Kigamboni and was presented to 15 YAGs who are from Temeke Rural
Districts namely: Suleimani J. Bogaboga, Abdallah Rajabu Siwazury,
Ally M. Dollah, Rukia Ziara Kamba, Mtupeni Saidi, Saidi M. Kazumali,
Ibrahim Muhidini, Mohamedh Kabesha and Leah. D. Salanga, Nuru
Omari, Ally Twaha, Nelis B. Kamuhabwa, Moses Mushi and Emmanuel
Elias.
The training is one of the activities of ISHI Rural Project
Phase III that is funded by UNICEF and USAID and implemented
by FHI and WAMA Foundation. The project aimed at achieving positive
changes on HIV/Aids related knowledge, attitudes, beliefs and
practices among youth with a particular emphasis on the most
vulnerable youth through a combination of youth –driven interventions
with focus prevention.
The training was facilitated by Frank Mbatta (FHI), Philomena
Marijani (WAMA) and Mr. Salum Chotta (FHI- Ambassador, a former
YAG) and coordinated by CHCIVANA staff.
The key objective of the training is to discuss on the changes
on implementing project activities especially on how to reach
the Most At Risk Population (MARPs) namely: Injection Drug Users
(IDUs) and Commercial Health Workers (CSW).
The key topics discussed were: The Most At Risked Population
: (MARPs); Commercial Sex Workers and Injection Drugs Users
(IDUs), Gender Based Violence (GBV), Alcohol, Multiple concurrent
partners, Team Building skills and Conflict Resolution.
