a Mother”- The arrival of students of WAMA - Nakayama Secondary
School in Nyamisati Rufiji - February 28, 2010

“A Child is a Mother”, this was said by WAMA Chairperson, Hon.
Mama Salma Kikwete during a welcome note to WAMA students in
Jangwani Secondary School in Dar es Salaam. The WAMA students
come from different regions within Tanzania to study at WAMA-
NAKAYAMA Secondary School in Rufiji. The students stayed at
Jangwani Secondary School for one day before going to their
school in Rufiji.
Mama Kikwete told the students that as a mother she saw a need
for her to greet them. She emphasied on the importance of hardworking
in their studies.

WAMA- NAKAYAMA Secondary School was constructed by a help of
Nakayama Foundation of Japan. It is specific for girls who are
orphans and come from very vulnerable environment but have performed
excellence in their standard seven national exams. The school
is anticipated to be a model school for science subjects.
The school will officially start on March 2010. For this year
the school is anticipated to enroll ninety students (90) from
Tanzania mainland and Island being the first students in the
school. For now sixty eight students (68) are now at school.

The arrival of the students at school is a great achievement
for WAMA Foundation, at last the dream has come true after a
long struggle. WAMA is envisioned to help orphans and vulnerable
girls to have a better secondary school education so as to build
a developed nation free of poverty, disesase and ignorance.
